Dial E For Eternity--Don't Mess Witth Mrs. Annie Arden!!

After mostly re-run summonings last time, The Kid pulls out some pretty obscure names in this tale...

We start with Mr. Keeper having wandered off, so Kid has nothing to do.

He stumbles onto this bucolic scene:

Aww.

But of course, there's trouble afoot!

Well, we can't let that happen...or can we?!?

Yup, without Keeper to implement Kid's commands, he's as powerless a Dalek on a static-free floor!!

So things go badly in the shoppe...

...for the criminals!!

Don't mess with Mrs. Annie Arden!!

So now, finally, Keeper shows up.

Time to help the widow!

Mmm, cookies.

But Kid can't let it go, so...

General Lafayette Baker!!

In the meantime, Foster's goons are back, and this time they're not taking any chances on an old woman beating them up!

So what can Kid do?

John Hatfield, who did indeed hold the (unverified) "world record" by throwing a baseball 400 feet in 1872! (The current record was set in 1957 by "Crazy Legs" Engle in 1957--445 feet, 10 inches!!)

Kid decides to polish off some thugs himself...

...but as usual, finds himself over his head...

So he calls Paddy Ryan! And yes, the 87 rounds is true (although the rules were very different then, and the rounds much shorter...)

So the fighter beats the crap out of some thugs...

But Mrs. Arden has no truck with any ruffians--especially shirtless ruffians!!

Kid sends Ryan back...and just then, our detective Baker shows up!

Well, that was a waste of panels.

But Annie figures out what is going on!

OK, we've covered this before--You're Kid Eternity. You're looking for a secret only a dead person knows. Why don't you, oh, I don't know, JUST SUMMON THE BROTHER AND ASK HIM WHERE THE BLOODY NECKLACE IS?!?!?

Ahem.

Anyway, even if Kid had thought of that, the good squad shows up again:

"EEEAWRK"?!?! What the hell is that exclamation, Kid?

Anyway, he gets an inspiration...

Samuel Colt!!

And for more help...

Milo Of Croton!!

And the most important lesson of the day? Mrs. Annie Arden will fire a cannon at your as if you cross her!!

Oh, gee...that was kind easy.

And, like many of the shorter stories in Kid's own title, it gets wrapped up VERY quickly...

Yup no time to stay and talk everything must wrap up NOW the end buh-bye.

Don't worry, if you missed anything, the next story has THE EXACT SAME PLOT.
