The Best Type Of Romance Comics Are Western Comics!!

It's time for a bit of Reese's Peanut Butter Cup:

Hey, you got romance in my western comics!!!

Well, you got romance comics on my western!!!

As you can see from the cover of Cowgirl Romances #3 (1950), this was a curious hybrid of genres--hangin' out with your man shooting rustlers isn't what you usually think of as romantic.

But, cover captions never lie!

Yes, "Daughter Of The Devil's Brand" and "Maverick Guns From Arizona" sure sound heart-warming!!

Well, let's try that Devil's Brand story...let's meet our heroine:

Well, she falls for Sam, and gol darn if he ain't the most romantic feller around!

"Wear my brand"? So, not so much heart-warming as butt-warming (or wherever you're thinking of branding her...).

After a goofy series of adventures, well, Mary Colby is really into the branding idea!!

O.....K.

It turns out that branding irons are pretty big in Cowgirl Romances, as these highly romantic covers will prove to you:

"Bullets sang her wedding march?" "Gun-feud sweethearts?" Every cover rife with violence & shootin' & brandin'?!?

You can keep your plain old boring romance comics!! Give me western romance comics anytime!!
